The Smoke Houses

Client:

CV Developments

Sector:

Rural & Heritage

Project Description:

The site sits in a prominent location on the edge of the River Tweed and south of Berwick. The site’s first use as a Herring yard dates back to the late 18th Century and later converted into the former smokehouse part of which is now afforded Grade II listed status.

The proposal is to take the currently semi derelict site and transform it into a mixed townhouse development that utilises traditional forms, maximises the space and takes advantage of the appealing shorefront vista. Ferguson Planning have managed the planning and listed building application process. With the application currently under consideration by Northumberland County Council.
