MEET THE TEAM
Tim established Ferguson Planning back in 2012 and has the overall responsibility of running the practice across three offices.
A qualified Town Planner with over twenty years of experience. Tim has worked and delivered a wide variety of major development projects across the UK. He regularly leads multi-disciplinary teams, advises on the best planning strategy and has a hands on approach to ultimately ensure a successful outcome no matter the scale of the project.
TIM FERGUSON
Managing Director
Toni-Jane has been an integral part in the establishment of Ferguson Planning. She is the Office and Finance Manager for the practice.
With a background in finance and having worked for Hotels and Design Agencies Toni-Jane oversee the daily administration and financial management of Ferguson Planning.
She is also responsible for events and consulting with clients to ensure they are receiving the best service possible.
TONI-JANE FERGUSON
Office & Finance Director
Sam is a qualified and chartered town planner with over 10 years’ experience in planning consultancy, previously working for both a commercial real estate advisory and investment firm and rural planning consultancy.
Sam has a broad range of experience advising both public and private sector clients in a range of sectors and at varying scales, throughout the UK.
Sam is particularly known for delivering complex inner city projects. In her spare time Sam is a keen mountain biker. Sam is co-lead and based in the company’s Edinburgh office.
SAM EDWARDS
Director
Ruaraidh joined Ferguson Planning in the Galashiels office in December 2019. During his time with the practice he has worked extensively on small rural residential development, achieving planning permission for dozens of new homes in the Borders countryside alone. Ruaraidh has also built up experience in large residential, holiday accommodation, retail, renewable energy, and other employment development.
Ruaraidh leads on housing land audits and all matters relating to Housing Land Supply for the practice.
RUARAIDH THOMPSON
Associate Director (Scottish Borders)
Kirsten joined Ferguson Planning in April 2023 as the Office Administrator and is based in the Galashiels office.
She has an administrative background and has worked in various sectors including Forestry, Renewable Wind Energy, Technology and most recently at a Local Authority. Although Kirsten has never worked in the Planning sector before she is excited to learn and gain a better understanding.
Kirsten provides administrative support to all members of the team and keeps our systems and processes working efficiently.

Kieran is a Chartered Town Planner and joined the Ferguson Planning Edinburgh Office in October 2023.
Having worked in both the private and public sectors, he brings with him experience in a range of services across the planning spectrum.
This includes site appraisals, planning strategy, pre-application consultation, managing complex stakeholder engagement activities, project management of planning applications, negotiation of conditions, and appeals. He has a strong track record of working closely with clients and key stakeholders to achieve positive planning outcomes
KIERAN MCFARLANE
Senior Plannrt
Lisa joined Ferguson Planning in August 2023 bringing with her over 10 years of experience of working as a Planner within the public and private sectors in Scotland.
Lisa's areas of experience include renewables, social housing, conservation and heritage and residential development, from small scale domestic to large scale commercial projects. Lisa takes a design-led, collaborative approach to projects working closely with clients to achieve positive results.
At Ferguson Planning we are currently supporting Lisa as she works on her journey towards RTPI chartership.
In her spare time, Lisa can found exploring the city and countryside with her camera as a keen photographer

When not busy in the office, Kirsten enjoys exploring the Scottish Borders and going for walks with her dog.

Beyond his role as a mascot at Ferguson Planning, Arthur enjoys a well-rounded life.
He loves spending time outdoors, chasing balls, and going on long walks with his human colleagues. As a diligent learner, Arthur has also mastered several impressive tricks, showcasing his intelligence and adaptability.
